The Night Watch Chronicles (Update: Part II added)

night-watch.jpg

The following is a riveting account of the escapades of the Fall Encampment night watchmen. I hoped they learned their lesson. Most likely not. We should have lots of fun with them next time.

Actually the boys, Marc included, who conveniently left his name out of the account, did learn something. I think they will be more vigilant next time.

The Night Watch’s purpose in this encampment was to protect the camp from enemy invasions, not just one but several. Mr. Barry would attempt to catch us off our guard and get within “striking range” of us, if he succeeded in this we would be subjected to twenty to thirty minutes of work outs in the morning after a night of partial sleep. We took the challenge (as if we had a choice) with a smile and thought it would be fun.

There were a lot of us probably ten or more, and we got roughly set up and had a rough plan. Ten minutes into the night Father Bonaventure had successfully infiltrated our base, he hid behind Adam (which isn’t hard to do) and we paid no attention to him because he said he would go get some flash lights for us. Father then explained to us that it was only a test but, we failed none the less and this made some kids very jumpy. Continue reading

Templar Fairplay

en-guard.jpg

Ben Acheson has responded to my last post on the Templar rehabilitation. You may want to follow the thread of comments here. However, in the interests of fairness I want to give his comment prominent attention:

Dear All

I would like to clear up a few misconceptions.

First and foremost, my brother and I make no claims about the Knights Templar or about ourselves.

Several years ago some letters between the Vatican and the Knights Templar were leaked to a London newspaper which used local records to trace Timothy and I. We told reporters what little we could and the story later appeared in numerous other places. It was reported that every October 13th for almost a century a request for the truth and an apology had been sent. There are reports that a response was recently received. I can’t confirm this. Air Strike

When many conservatives want the social conservatives to go away, or at least be quiet, we have Brian Brown and the National Organization for marriage raising the banner for marriage right over the busiest highways, and getting air time on the news.

Please support NOM. This work is vitally important for the future of marriage and social conservativism in this country.

If social conservatives shut up at this juncture the battle is over. Never has the use of our voice been more critical.

Calling all Knights. The ball is in your court.

Initial Reaction to Encampment

Success!

Ahem, ladies, just as I said. The boys had a blast. Doug worked them till they were dead tired. He was firm and encouraging, and they loved it.

You have no idea how inspiring it was to see boys of all ages and abilities with looks of determination, struggling but not giving up. Doug had them doing push ups when they missed a catechism question and they all had smiles on their faces.

I am firmly convinced that this is exactly the right approach for boys. Be prepared for the little men to be fired up for more.

One father made a comment before everyone at the very end, saying that he left the encampment and better man. This was a challenge to the mind, body and spirit. We are forming Catholic warriors. Awsome!

Fra Augustine will have some video up in the next day or so. Stay tuned.

Walk Thru the Boot Camp with Doug Barry

This is a down and dirty job of videography; however, we wanted to get it up quick. This was shot just a couple of hours ago.

Doug has just arrived and walks us through the challenge course, explaining what will happen tomorrow and discussing what he hopes to accomplish with the men and boys.

The video is divided up into five 8 minute segments.

Knights of Lepanto Shirts

dsc02607.jpg

This is our new Knights of Lepanto t-shirt on Knight Errant, who never allows his face to be seen. He generally only shows up in his armor, otherwise he walks backward. The banner is a really cool vinyl printout of the MaryVictrix logo.

The design of the shirt reflects the Knights of Lepanto coat of arms:

coat-of-arms.jpg

The blue field represents heaven and the white represents earth. The three upper fleur-de-lis represent the Most Holy Trinity. The middle fleur-de-lis is both blue and white because it represents the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Eternal word who became incarnate for our salvation. So here the blue and white reminds us of the two natures of Christ, divine and human. The blue fleur-de-lis in the lower right represents Our Lady, the Mother of Jesus.

Along the diagonal axis from upper left to lower right we have the Son in the Middle, and then His Father in heaven in the upper left and His Mother on Earth in the lower right. Jesus is the only begotten of the Father with no Mother in heaven and the only begotten of His Mother with no Father on earth.

Along the the right vertical axis joining the Holy Spirit and Our Lady we she a visual sign of the spousal relationship between the Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity and the Mother of God. Our Lady is overshadowed by the Spirit.

Along the horizontal axis in the white field we find represented Our Lady at the foot of the Cross. Jesus dies for his bride the Church personified by the Blessed Virgin, and She is totally obedient and committed in solidarity to the work of Her Son.

This Trinitarian and Marian representation reminds us that we must proceed from a deep interior life, union with God through Our Lady, to a life of charity and action, within the family, holy matrimony and the broader social life. As the most fundamental relationship between men, male and female, is matrimony and family life, the restoration of sanity in the relations between men and women is fundamental. The relationship between Jesus and Mary is the archetype. Jesus is the true Knight and Our Lady is the Bride/Damsel in Distress.

The red cross reminds us of the crusading spirit and the tradition of the military order.

The shirt design is very similar to the coat of arms. The main difference is the field in the lower left that has a war galley mast and sail, representing the Spirit of Lepanto:

The front of the Shirt is embroidered with “Knights of Lepanto”:

The adult shirts go for $14.00. I have 100 shirts total right now in all adult and kid sizes, and will be making them available at the Encampment. I will order more as needed.

All Hallows Survey II

Come on guys. We need some ideas. If you don’t come up with something we are liable to do something on a Star Wars theme. Like this:

Here is the site of the rocket’s creators.

The sound was edited out, but I found the original–what they did not want you to hear:

And finally, I discovered that the video was even altered by the government to hide the truth concerning U.F.O.’s. Here is the undoctored video. Sorry, the Porkins audio has been omitted. Just imagine the two together:

Excuse the language at the end of the clip.
